Sahitya-Padya is a course that focuses on the composition and theory of literary works in the Hindu tradition, particularly in classical Sanskrit literature. It is designed for students who are currently enrolled in a master’s program in Sanskrit in the USA, specifically those who are interested in exploring the nuances of poetics theories in Sanskrit literature.
Through this course, students will delve into the well-established and standardized method, structure, and system of kāvya and kāvya-śāstra, or literary composition and the theory of composition. They will gain an understanding of the parts and standards of poetry, and how they shape the Indic literary world’s perception of beauty.
